Irish dancing, tin whistle playing.

Irish dance

I perform with my friends from the Irish dance school I attend. These are from our show at Oktoberfest 2025 and a studio session.

Tin whistle

I started playing it around 2020, having no musical talent to speak of. My daughter was learning the recorder at the time, and a friend who plays the whistle very well got me inspired.

I play for 10 to 15 minutes most days. From time to time, I fall for a new tune and I spend a bit longer on it. After some four years I got good enough to play for others: first my family and my dance school, then a wider audience. This photo is from a friends' wedding in 2024, where I played together with my wife (guitar) and my daughter (recorder and hard shoes).

I wrote more about it, and why I think skills like this one matter more in the context of AI taking over other work, in the article How 15 minutes a day gave me an AI-proof skill.
